Money Monster (2016)

(This review is short and sweet)

Starring George Clooney as financial TV host Lee Gates and Julia Roberts as his producer Patty, the pair are put in an extreme situation when an irate investor takes over their studio. (IMDB)

Directed by award-winning actress Jodie Foster, this crime-drama-thriller is full of tense scenes, climactic decisions and brilliant acting from both Clooney and Roberts, as well as a stand-out performance from Jack O’Connell who I have previously only seen on the British teenage drama Skins.

As the show is broadcasted to millions (Jack O’Connell) portraying the investor who has lost everything, Lee and Pat are forced to uncover the truth about where the missing millions have gone.

Despite its plot being quite simplistic and similar to other-previous films, MM is clever, sleek and makes you feel pity for the ‘terrorist’ allowing you to see his side; how people can sometimes be convinced to put all of their money into a promising stock, then inevitably loosing everything.

Dominic West portrays the selfish and money-grabbing Walt Camby, head of the company who lost the money.

This was an entertaining watch which despite having little location change, kept me interested and made me feel tense throughout.

I’d recommend this to anyone who has seen similar films such as Oceans Eleven, and enjoy heist/crime dramas.
